The Mecki Balog Quartett
September 8, 1990 SZ
Free and outdoors
The Mecki Balog Quartet plays music in the tradition of German Roma, drawing inspiration from guitarist Django Reinhardt.
In addition to their repertoire of old swing numbers that thrilled audiences in the 1930s and 40s, the quartet specializes in sung Roma songs of the German Sinti, as well as songs by composers and lyricists such as Weill and Brecht.
The voice of Josefi Graf, combined with Mecki Balog (lead guitar), Alexander Kraus (violin), and Branko Arnsek (double bass), captivates every audience.
The group Second Hand consists of three musicians who have reworked and perform well-known songs, primarily from the 1970s. Their repertoire includes songs by Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, John Denver, and Arlo Guthnie.
